It’s not About the Burqa - Review (⭐️4.4/5)
I finally finished reading It’s not About the Burqa couple days ago via Kindle. First, I want to emphasize that this book is really recommended, specially for you who would like to avoid being a misogynist, have a conscience to break racism tendencies, and eager to educate themself to know better than an Islamophobia.
Now, if you haven’t read this book, then I should inform you that this book is a non-fiction book consists of collection of essays written by a muslim women. Like every other essay out there, there will be an idea (or more) discussed in each essay, you will see the hypothesis, fact with legitimate source that will support the hypothesis and then a conclusion.
Okay, I’ll try to elaborate couple of reasons why i give this book 4.4 ⭐️ and strongly recommended it for you :
Powerful
You might notice that, sometimes of all people trying to “define”, make “policy”, have strong “opinion” about muslim women are NOT muslim women, and therefore many misunderstanding happens and fatally misinformation. This book presented to you the reality, the voice, the idea of muslim women, from our own.
Every hypothesis and point of view in each essays is supported with relevant source that we can double or triple check if we want.
Relatable
You can find some use cases that may have happened to you in your life, or you’ve lived long enough to see it in someone else’s.
It ‘s published in 2019, so it’s caught up with modern lifestyle.
Insightful
I understand about Islam and its relationship with women. Many people have little understandings that Islam has been adopted, assimilated with culture life, and sometimes value contradiction is inevitable. When this happened, we’re reminded to try to prioritize Islam to culture demands.
Knowing the writers journey in this book gives me the idea about living as a muslim colored women in a non muslim country.
